'Lake Festival will be brilliant'

MUSIC lovers are being promised a top line-up of acts at this year's Marine Lake Festival in Clevedon.

Twenty-eight acts have been signed up so far to perform on two stages during the festival on September 15 and 16 at the Salthouse Fields.

Live music – some of which will be acoustic – will grace the stages from 10am until 10pm on Saturday and from noon until 7pm on the Sunday.

Acts lined up so far include Thin Lizzy cover band Footloose, progressive rock outfit Solar Furnace and alternative folk and country act Ant Noel and the Pea- body Drakes.

Also performing will be indie rock band In the Pacific and medieval folk group The Herbs.

Music stage organiser Mike Britton said: "This is our biggest line-up of musicians yet.

"So far we have 28 acts booked and there are still more to come so there will be something to suit everyone's taste."

There will also be zumba dancing and displays of belly dancing, line dancing and burlesque performances.

Film lovers will also be able to enjoy a pop-up cinema courtesy of the town's Curzon Cinema.

Last year crowds of thousands flocked to the lake to try their hand at a number of activities including canoeing and sailing.

Both activities will be available at this year's event, along with radio controlled boats.

There will also be a raft race across the lake on Sunday and a range of stalls and activities on the Salthouse Fields.

Details of the full line-up and times are available at facebook. com/marlensfestival.

Anyone who wants a stall should contact Matt Taylor on 01275 792049 or visit www.marlens.org.uk.
