Police raise 700 for local children's hospice

NEIGHBOURHOOD police in Weston-super-Mare have raised £700 for Charlton Farm Children's Hospice.

The hospice in Wraxall is one of three children's hospices run by Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) and offers care for children who have illnesses which mean they will die before reaching adulthood.

Neighbourhood police teams in Weston-super-Mare raised the money over the course of the year through a combination of cake sales, raffles, auctions and charity nights.

Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Mark Raby said: "I'm really proud of my team for raising such a lot of money for a really worthwhile cause. They've worked really hard throughout the year and given up their own time and resources to fundraise for the hospice.

"It just shows that when we pull together, we can really make a difference to the lives of people in our community."

Kylie Gallagher, Community Fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West said: "It's wonderful that Mark and colleagues so very kindly chose to fundraise on our behalf throughout the year. Our aim is to make the most of short and precious lives and the money raised will enable us to keep doing this. £700.00 could buy hampers packed with treats for all of our families staying during the Christmas period. We are really grateful to Mark and everyone involved for all their support this Christmas."
