Youngsters are focussed on farewell exhibition

A YOUTH centre in Brislington is marking its closure with a photographic exhibition looking at the past, present and future of the area.

Wicklea Youth Centre on Wick Road will be holding the exhibition on Saturday.

It has been organised and created by a group of ten young people in the area and will be the last event before the centre is knocked down and replaced by the new St Anne's Junior School.

The youngsters created the exhibition after meeting and interviewing people living on the nearby Affinity Sutton estate in Brislington.

The group took pictures of the residents and spoke to them about how their estate had changed.

They also took pictures of the estate to be displayed at the exhibition this weekend.

Zoe Holloway, 38, a youth worker at the centre, helped the youngsters put the project together.

She said: "This project's aim was to get the young people and the community working on something together.

"They have gone around the estate interviewing residents and asking what it used to be like, what it is like now and what they want it to be like for the future."

The exhibition runs from 10am until 4pm this Saturday at the Wicklea Centre on Wick Road.

Admission is free.
